UK born, now LA based DJ, producer, composer and label owner Seb Wildblood delivers his most eclectic offering yet, debuting on Aus Music with his Flush EP that explores a trio of passionate, potent and genre-spanning electronica.
Always adding depth beyond the music in his work, Seb continues to ask probing questions which were demonstrated in his third album last year, separation anxiety. This narrative continues on FLUSH, eloquently demonstrating his versatility as a producer, with his ability to offer an insight into the diverse landscape of his musical influences.
First up on the EP and offering introductory mellow tones, is "stick it in the freezer", titled after an incident whilst writing in the vast arid deserts of Joshua Tree, when his laptop quite literally overheated and had to be resuscitated by ‘sticking it in the freezer’. The track oozes with fuzzy and feel-good chord vamps and mellifluous xylophone-style melodies, whist yearning vocal croons tug at the heart strings before picking up the pace for a smooth dance floor cut. Meanwhile "killer-switch" literally switches up the bpm, moving into breakbeat and jungle realms whilst distorted yet harmonic vocal chops soar amongst the fast paced drums, rapid claps and acid synth lines making for yet another epic genre collision.
Closing out the EP is techno leaning title track "FLUSH", featuring energetic hi-hats that weave between rhythmic, neon bops whilst futuristic lasers and squelches jitter amongst the breakdowns before 80s chords take centre stage and transcends into the stratosphere. Showcasing each intricate layer and it's ability to flow into one whole unit is a talent few hold, but Seb Wildblood masters it to perfection.
