Beth McKenzie questions her sanity in “She’s Finally Lost It!”

Beth McKenzie recounts her own experiences of power abuse and exploitation within the music industry in her brutally honest, yet addictive new release, “She’s Finally Lost It!” Based in Manchester, the intoxicating track demonstrates Beth’s ability to bring together the musicality of ‘00s Brit-pop with candid and unfiltered lyrics inspired by Gen Z, to create something that is undeniably relatable.

Through raw, storytelling lyrics, McKenzie reclaims her voice, shedding light on the dark realities of the entertainment industry and offering a vibrant anthem of resilience and self-empowerment.

The songwriter shares, “I went from being promised the earth to being manipulated and controlled by someone.” Deciding to take her experiences and turn them into an unapologetic, powerhouse bop, McKenzie continues, “The lyrics came easily but, at first, musically the song was very dark and sombre, and it just didn’t work. My producer and I decided on a radical change and created an upbeat, edgy sound that captures the sheer insanity of the whole situation.”

Despite the playful and fun tone, “She’s Finally Lost It!” touches on darker themes that range from helplessness and isolation, reflecting the emotional distress that McKenzie went through at the time when she was driven to believe she was losing her mind.

“She’s Finally Lost It!” is off of her upcoming 5-track EP which is due later this year and we cannot wait to hear what else she has up her sleeve.
