The Festival de Musique Émergente en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (FME) is back for its 22nd edition, taking place from August 29 to September 1, 2024.

The annual festival is held in the region of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, specifically in the town of Rouyn-Noranda. Located approximately 650 kilometers (about 400 miles) northwest of Montreal, Rouyn-Noranda is known for its mining history and stunning natural scenery, providing a unique backdrop for the event.

Founded in 2003 by a dedicated group of music enthusiasts, including Jenny Thibault, Sandy Boutin, and Francis Théberge, the festival was established to showcase and encourage emerging musical talent from Quebec and beyond. For over 20 years, it has consistently achieved this goal and proven to be successful.

Over the years, FME has expanded its reach to include a wide array of artistic disciplines, incorporating visual arts, films, and literature. However, it remains a significant platform for both emerging and established artists, offering them exposure to new audiences and industry professionals alike.

The 2024 lineup for the Festival de Musique Émergente (FME) features a diverse mix of Francophone, Anglophone, and international artists, spanning genres from punk rock and electronic music to hip-hop and experimental sounds.

The four-day festival will showcase standout acts such as Nobro, Souldia, Ada Oda, and NYSSA. Additionally, local talents from the Quebec region, including GreenWoodz, Érika Zarya, Dope.GNG, The Wesleys, Goodbye Karelle, Safia Nolin, and more, will also be taking the stage.

The festival will feature performances across various stages and venues throughout the town, including the intimate and cozy café L'Abstracto for acoustic and experimental performances, Le Paramount, which provides a grand setting for a diverse range of acts, showcasing both established and emerging artists; and the Scène Extérieure – 7th Rue, an outdoor stage that highlights Rouyn-Noranda’s scenic backdrop with an open-air setting for indie bands and solo acts. This setup invites patrons to explore the town and visit local establishments until they find the perfect music act to suit their tastes.

This year’s lineup promises an eclectic mix of performances, ensuring there’s something for every music lover to enjoy.

The diverse array of artists embodies the festival’s spirit of discovery and innovation, making FME 2024 a must-attend event for anyone eager to experience the best in emerging music.

FME runs Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, 2024 in Rouyn-Noranda, QC:  TICKETS & INFO
