Hot on the heels of their debut single “Tattoo,” Bottlemoth, the indie-folk five-piece, have dropped surprise twin tracks, “You’ll Always Have Us” and “Everything Works Out In The End”, as a further taster to their debut album, Even Us Ghosts due out October.
Opening song “You’ll Always Have Us” exudes a pounding noughties anthemic drum sound that grabs your attention before settling into a more ethereal space where vocalist and lyricist Ethan Proctor rides the waves of synth and guitar washes, peppered with chiming riffs that build into a rapturously singable and questioning chorus “Don’t you wanna get out of here?” before the track comes to a tumultuous stop.
“Everything Works Out In The End” is a more rustic ode to fatalism and not fighting against yourself. It again features a chorus of layered guitar riffs, swollen chords, and an “Ooohing” group vocal. It sums up the ending of the summertime and the acceptance that some things are beyond your control, so why not go with the flow?
