Los Angeles-based indie-pop artist Sloan Golden is currently preparing for the release of her debut EP, Long Conversations, arriving September 25th. In the meantime, she shares the third single "Corner of My Eye", a solemn pop ballad that explores Golden's past traumatic experiences and her never-ending search for emotional and mental safety. Bolstered by a prevalent guitar arrangement, mellow drum grooves, and warm textures, Sloan details an unexpected run-in with someone who hurt them in the past and the flight response that occurs right away. Armed with her breathy vocal tone and sultry melodic runs, she vividly sings "I’m always afraid I’ll see you/Out of the corner of my eye/So I tend to keep my head down /And hide" as she confronts her fears.
The accompanying visual employs a wide range of evocative motifs that capture Sloan's steps toward self-healing. From the moody set pieces, performance shots, and physical gestures, viewers get to see and feel her pain slowly transition into happiness.
Queer indie pop artist Sloan Golden started writing music as a form of therapy during high school and developed her artistry throughout her adult life. She currently has two singles “Parking Lot," and “Dandelion,” out now while she readies her debut EP.
