After a whole year of resting since the release of “Silvia,” Sofia Valdes is back to fulfill the remaining arc.
2023’s Silvia EP brought Valdes to a more sincere setting, forcing her to channel inspiration from morbidly dark places, resulting in a project that contains some of the best songwriting of her discography. Tracks were intimate, bringing forth sensual jams with some of the most prolific producers in the industry, including Michael Uzowuru.
“How’s That Working Out” comes from those same sessions, bringing Uzowuru along with Hawthorne hero Cuco to finish the lingering wills left after Silvia.
The track brings the same ingenuous style of production but with a more lively vocal performance. Valdes maintains the streak of personal lyricism but carries a lot more energy and in some ways, aggression in the chorus for a dynamic execution.
“How’s That Working Out” is a great parallel to the previously somber tunes of Silvia and offers a great tease for what fans can expect to hear later this year.
