Based in the Czech Republic, singer/ songwriter Mary Elle has just released her new single “Movie Ticket.” Oozing with emotion, the stunning single tells the story of finding the light at the end of the tunnel, whilst in the trenches of grief. Despite its somber narrative, sonically the track shines brightly with an uplifting, motivating and liberating sound. Mary Elle explains the reasoning behind this juxtaposition, sharing, “It relates to the narrative and how even though letting that person go was painful, it was needed in order for her to find a sense of freedom and find out that she’s the main character of her own story, not someone else’s.”
“Movie Ticket” was co-written with musician and producer Gregory Darling and originally found its start back in 2014. Now, ten years later it’s evident that it was worth the wait. Having perfected the heartfelt, poignant lyrics and graceful, polished instrumentation, “Movie Ticket” is a beautiful concoction of gentle piano and shimmering synths. Mary Elle’s haunting vocals linger deep in your mind, as she sings, “And I know you show up late, but this time I think it’s fate, you’re not coming back here, now I’m left standing in my tears.”
“Movie Ticket” is the second single to be released from Mary Elle’s upcoming EP due later this year. Blending vulnerability with resilience, this track is certain to resonate with listeners, as Mary Elle sends an empowering message that through life’s biggest hurdles, we can find healing and self-discovery.
