Sierra Leonean-American rapper/ singer/ songwriter  Mansa Maca shares with the world her new project Summertime Clothes, a 9-track body of work that is inspired by summer and the joyful feelings that usually come with the season. It also explores love, her roots and the things that make her tick.

The first track “Elope” has a bright guitar riff and a potent pop vibe, reminiscent of the late 90s and early 2000s pop songs. Maca pours her heart on wax with her distinctly breathy vocals and sublime melodies. She reflects on love and the magnetic feeling she has to escape the world with her lover. Next is “Fka ESCEE2”, a mid-tempo, bass-driven, bouncy tune that is underpinned by the singer’s laidback melody-tinged flow and expressive bravado raps. On “Enough”, Mansa employs a dancehall/ afro fusion backdrop as she delivers a sultry performance ripe with heartfelt and sensual energy. "Don't Rush" is a groovy guitar-driven summer love cut that is riddled with airy melodic runs and slick atmospheric textures that capture the aura of summer and the feeling of being in the arms of that special someone. Lines like “Looking like a million carats gold/ So glad I found you/ You ignite my world/ Ooh you say you want nothing more/ Than a tight little squeeze/ Lemme handle you", set the mod aptly to give audiences a glimpse into her feelings.

In "Righteous Groove”, Mansa paints a bright and beautiful picture of having a blissfully sunny day after a fulfilling night with lines like “Last night was giving more than it had to give/ Feeling so blessed think imma bask in it/ Sunday vibes like what the commodores was on/ Golden rays (ooh )while we cuddled up some more”. Here, she employs a smooth laidback rap flow over a soulful piano-driven lofi backdrop. The fun continues with "Commas”, a soulful and reflective piece that explores her Freetown roots and also displays her multicultural backdrop as she fuses broken English with a flair. The project closes out with the bonus track “No One Like You”, where she pours adulations on her lover. Other dope tracks include  the playful “Ps & Q’s” and  soulful-boom-bap vibes of “Life Riddim”

Born in Freetown and raised in the culturally vibrant landscape of Sierra Leone, Oumoukultum Oumar-Sesay aka Mansa Maca migrated to the United States during her teenage years. It was amidst the bustling cultural milieu of New York City during her college years that she discovered her passion for music, initially expressing herself as a freestyle rapper and poet.
