Seattle based rapper Lopis has just shared his latest single "Mental". The acclaimed artist has collaborated with the likes of Ezra Guyll from Sendai Studios, and sound engineer Dakari Gwitira on this candid and phenomenal musical release.
"Mental" is an autobiographical song all about Lopis' own battle with mental health issues including anxiety and depression. He often has recurrent racing negative and intrusive thoughts and most of all this anxiety and depression can be bad self judgement. He raps, "Hi / Excuse Me / Don't you think that used to fit more loosely / Don't you think that that smile be too toothy / Honestly your whole vibe is a bit goofy /What Man who the fuck is it that you be / I'm anxiety," taking the voice of himself and the evil anxious thoughts he has. Sonically, "Mental" is reminiscent of early Eminem, with Lopis creating an effortless flow and hard-hitting rhymes. Striking synths, vibrant beats and intoxicating rythmes complete this important, bold and brave single.
Lopis is a man of many talents. Growing up, he struggled and became a teen dad. Realizing he can become anything he wanted to in life and hoping to better his life for his son, he worked in construction and medicine becoming both a CEO and a doctor.
