Ellur is searching for answers on soaring new single “God Help Me Now”

Ellur aka Ella McNamara is a profoundly thoughtful singer-songwriter. The word authentic gets bandied around a lot but here, on her new single, the title track to an upcoming EP,  she describes with harsh accuracy the rabbit in the headlights fear she and her generation are dealing with so much.  "I think too much / I’m all out of fucks / The world’s on fire / I’m just getting drunk / And the fear is real / Tell me how to feel / Tell me how to feel / God help me now".

It’s neither a unique woman’s nor British experience sadly, although these are very much at the forefront of Ellur's personal storytelling. Her warm, resounding voice occasionally provides glimpses of her West Yorkshire accent as she pores over the frustration and navigates a world of potential violence, betrayal, lost love, and unfulfilled ambitions. It may sound bleak and in some senses that’s because it is but when she changes key and reaches into a stirringly infectious finale, replete with a chorus of backing vocals, there is a genuine sense of hope. Co-written with Benjamin Francis Leftwich this is the first offering from an EP due out January 2025. Good luck keeping things under wraps that long as Ellur is a rare voice that demands to be out in the world.
