Australia-hailing electropop/alt talent LION teams up with South African electro/hip-hop artist Dope Saint Jude on fiery track “Mitmita,” a celebration of Ethiopian flavours steeped in sass and sultriness.
With Afrobeats musicality underscored by booming 808s and dynamic percussion, the track is led by LION’s growling rap delivery alongside Dope Saint Jude’s ferocity to make for an unapologetic and bold anthem.
Speaking of the track, LION says, “Mitmita is my Ethiopian Mother’s go-to seasoning, so having it as the focal point of this song feels connective as we are here to spice things up by celebrating and supporting members of our Queer BIPOC global community, who too often experience trauma related to the lack of capacity to proudly present their identity.”
Balancing an easy to jam soundscape with a message rooted in a sense of belonging and pride, the track is underscored by advocacy within layers of playful lyricism alongside powerful visuals boasting dynamic choreography shots and features a standoff between two LIONs.
