Boston outfit Bay Faction have returned from a four-year hiatus with their new single "Drive Home". Bringing angsty vocal flicks and driving energy, the new tune captures the nostalgia and head-banging drums of the emo-tinged alternative rock of the noughties, with the meticulous production and artistically curated autotune and synth-work of the current pop space. The track is clean-cut and intentional, with no space for over-production- making their melancholy yet dance-worthy melodies shine.
The single presents a moment-by-moment documentation of a dangerously intimate encounter with a passenger as the band’s lead singer, James McDermott, does his best to safely navigate the chasm. The band have undeniably spent the past four years evolving, and "Drive Home" encapsulates their progression into a beautifully catchy and diverse space.
“We're thrilled to be back, and starting with 'Drive Home' just felt right,” says James. “The song is inspired by one of our favourite stretches of highway, Interstate 95, between NYC and Boston.”
Born out of an online message board, Bay Faction emerged in the Boston DIY scene in 2015 with the debut of their self-titled record, the first release on Counter Intuitive Records, with the band’s album pressed on highly coveted vinyl. Following its release, Bay Faction spent 2 years rigorously touring nationwide, developing a cult-like following. Coming off of their sold out summer tour, Bay Faction is gearing up to tour again this coming September on their “You’ve Been Good Part 2” Tour.
