Half Waif shares moving new single “Figurine” from her upcoming album "See You At The Maypole"

Half Waif aka Nandi Rose has been a gentle, alluring presence on the music scene since she began sharing her highly personal stories a decade ago. Her diarist lilting approach has always leaned to a darker side, examining things hidden, lost, and taken in her life and from others around her. It's unsurprisingly then that in “Figurine” we find Rose musing over her own miscarriage as a jumping-off point for exploring differing types of pain.

Depicting both the immediacy and the aftermath of such a traumatic experience, Rose uses the healing process to elevate her poetic lyrics beyond the disbelief and ongoing uncertainty. It’s only briefly uncomfortable as her unaccompanied falsetto rings out. Deft piano chords join in to give her fragile singing a mast around which to weave. Following the initial pain, the song expands with choir-like backing vocals and strumming guitars, brushed drums beating out the steps as we hear Rose venture out of the dark and into a more hopeful and healed place, something her new album "See You At The Maypole" promises to delve into much further.
