South London talent Gabriella Bongo showcases her soulful musicality on latest EP, Unsettled Rhythms, weaving through everything from house, 90s R&B, and cinematic music in a richly layered and emotional journey.
Rooted in Bongo’s mastery of drum and bass, the intricate and immersive project brims with equal amounts of expansiveness and intimacy.
Speaking of the short but impactful four-track EP, she says “ I felt that the one thing that all the songs had in common was that they were all about emotions I had deeply felt but had never really talked about. The emotions are the ‘rhythms’ and the fact that I don’t really talk about them is what makes them ‘unsettled’. That’s how the name for the project came about.”
Having begun her musical journey at a young age, Bongo’s penchant for experimentation and crafting compelling tales has shaped an engaging sonic world that beckons us with each note.
