Grand Rapids duo Cal in Red tap in James Mercer for "Kitchen"

With their forthcoming album right on the horizon, the dynamic indie duo get a lifeline from Shins frontman James Mercer for another glimmering insight on their gentle style of music.

Cal in Red is the lovechild of brothers Conner and Kendall Wright, lifelong collaborators who have been shaping their soft, yet emotional music for for the last half decade. After years of growth and experimentation, the brothers cracked the formula for inventive rock music with softer pop elements while incorporating sensual lyrics that add a layer of depth to their story telling.

The previous tracks "Next Christmas" and "She Won't Say" provide two sides of the same creative coin, demonstrating the brothers knack for storytelling, whether it be for a lighter or more somber rhythm.

Their latest track "Kitchen" provides the same conventional production, accompanied by the nostalgic, sleek vocal performance from collaborator and friend, James Mercer. "Kitchen" serves as the perfect final appetizer for an unfamiliar audience, providing the same energy and range of sounds that can be heard on the groups upcoming debut album Low Low, said to arrive in August.

"Kitchen" is available now on all DSP's

Stream Low Low later this year on August 30th, via B3SCI Records
