Said Sara strikes gold with ‘Then There You Are’

David Benson, known to the music world as Said Sara, harnessed its energy to create "Then There You Are," a track that feels like it was forged from pure stardust. Following the acclaim of 2023’s "Same," Said Sara’s new single is an emphatic but affectionate ode that captures the essence of his musical and psychological journey.

2023 was a whirlwind for this dark/pop/folk/prog solo acoustic artist. Benson’s global presence expanded as he debuted live in four countries, solidifying his place on the world stage. With "Then There You Are," he brings us closer to his core, blending the intimate with the expansive in a way only he can.

Growing up in the '70s, Benson’s influences were the greats: Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, James Taylor, and Lindsey Buckingham. Yet, his soul is rooted in metal and punk, a duality that defines his unique sound. This fusion is evident in "Then There You Are," where acoustic melodies meet the raw edge of his influences, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly new.

The track is a beautiful journey through Benson’s psyche. It's introspective, with dark, stripped-down hymns reminiscent of his early, unreleased work from the '90s. Since the release of his self-titled EP in 2020, Benson has experienced a reawakening in his songwriting. This new single continues his streak of powerful releases, including "I Star as You," "Bleedways," "Sea," and "Same."

As he works on a new album with Acephalix, a death metal band he’s drummed for since 2008, Benson’s versatility and passion shine through. Residing in San Francisco, where he balances life as a special ed teacher and family man, Benson pours his life into his music. "Then There You Are" is a cosmic connection to Said Sara's ever-evolving artistry.
