Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and activist Hip Hop artist Mumu Fresh is a multi-talented act whose antecedents run deep. From performing alongside luminaries such as The Roots, Sting, Bobby McFerrin, Lala Hathaway, and a knack for blending soothing melodies with thought-provoking raps. The Washington, D.C.-based maestro is back with a brand new release "Good Morning" that is perfect to start the day with.
The track is a smooth fusion of neo-soul aesthetics, R&B melodic stylings, and traditional hip-hop swag with a unique twist. Over the rich guitar licks, warm Rhodes chords and head-nodding drum grooves, she delivers a sermon-like performance ripe with positive messing and uplifting gems that are much needed. Lines like:
"How would you know which way to go without the diagnosis/And in your darkest hour/Reach High word to my flotus/Ever notice? you don't know what you want/Until you know what you don't"
dig deep into the human spirit and our constant need for enlightenment and self-awareness and importantly a reminder to find one's true purpose. "Good Morning" is the first cut from her latest album The Healing and is accompanied by a visual that captures Mumu Fresh in her element, basking in the sun and enjoying the cool fresh breeze on a yacht.
