Scotland-hailing act Beldon Haigh add to the band's repertoire of satirical political hits with "Elected," a rallying cry for civic engagement, urging listeners to participate in voting and make their voices heard amidst the chaotic political landscape.
Led by a blend of pop, rock, and punk influences, the captivating number intertwines narrative storytelling with pulsating beats and an irresistible chorus, resonating with a disillusioned public navigating today's political uncertainty.
Band frontman Justin Skelton explains, “Politicians need to persuade us that they and their party are worth voting for, that they are deserving our vote. "Everywhere you look at the moment there is a new crisis happening or about to happen, but instead of addressing real issues, we hear the same old tropes and platitudes and too many politicians use the same old tired tactics and dog whistles. I think if you hearing blah, blah, blah when a politician is talking – then that is a sure sign they are not addressing the things that really matter to you."
The track is accompanied by a surreal live video, which hones in on the song’s poignant message with wit and impact. Shot in Falkirk High Street, the visuals humorously features political figures portrayed using hyper-realistic masks of Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong-un by artist Landon Meier.
With a narrative-rich artistry that sees them channel intricate sonics into critique of societal norms, challenge consumerism, and advocate for values like fairness and camaraderie, Beldon Haigh firmly establishes themselves as pioneers in the alternative rock landscape with perfect balance between traditional musicality and contemporary relevance
