Emerging from her comfort zone to present something wonderfully creative and new, while retaining her foundation in musical style, Dallas-based artist Nicolasa is bridging a generational gap in sound with her newfound style dubbed “Tejano House.”
Nicolasa is the brainchild of Nicollette Gonzalez, a Fort Worth-born, Native/ Tejana resident who’s explored the Texas sun at The University of Texas as well as San Francisco. After being exposed to the illuminated EDM scene of NortCal, Nicolasa returned to settle in Fort Worth and reconnect with her roots, combining multiple influences into something incredibly bouncy and energetic.
“Texas Sun” shows off Nicolasa’s prowess in utilizing a good bassline, throwing a hypnotic melodic chorus over it, and enchanting it with a rich vibe that brings a positive feeling to the bones.
The track is groovy from start to finish but increasingly layers up instrumentally more and more as it progresses until you get a sweet crescendo of a melody that softly brings it all to an end.
