Tulsa musical mastermind Casii Stephan has just shared her latest soul-drenched pop rock single. Entitled "Average Man", the song follows her single releases of "Wine & Gold" and "Can't Handle Me", shared earlier this year. All three tracks are off of her highly anticipated upcoming EP Relationship Status.
With "Average Man", Casii found inspiration from an unexpected place. According to the press the artist was watching a documentary on one of her musical influences Shania Twain. The film profiled the icon's struggles including how her husband left her when she was in the midst of fighting lyme disease. Casii was shocked at this revelation and when she talked to an Oncology Nurse about this, she shared that it is so common for men to leave their partners when they get cancer that nurses will counsel women about it. Lyrics including, "I was the trophy / That you had to love / Until my varnish began to wear off," show this sad theme. Musically, "Average Man" features rowdy classic rock inspired guitars under Casii's captivating vocals. A driving and anthemic chorus full of fervor and grit complete the musical masterpiece that fuses rock, pop, soul and blues. The artist teamed up with producer Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes, St. Paul and the Broken Bones) and the collaboration is awe-inspiring.
Casii Stephan was born and bred in Minnesota but found her true home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The creator signed to TRO Essex music publishing (The Who, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd) and has made waves performing at SXSW and Folk Alliance. With a knack for storytelling, crafting irresistible melodies and telling important narratives, Casii continues to enthrall audiences worldwide.
