Manics shares 5 Tips for preparing for a festival ahead of US debut of Brunch Electronik

Barcelona's beloved festival brand Brunch Electronik! is preparing tirelessly for its debut edition in the U.S. on July 6th, in Los Angeles.

The festival's US debut, in partnership with Los Angeles based organizers Minimal Effort and SBLCLTR, will aim to import the open-air, daytime experience the Spanish brand has made its name for, soundtracked by the leading selectors in house and techno. With Southern California's sun-soaked aesthetic lending itself perfectly to the atmosphere of the event, the city of LA will serve as the quintessential backdrop for the debut of Brunch Electronik!, providing an ideal canvas for the outdoor revelry that defines the Brunch Electronik! experience.

With the lineup featuring LA-based, live-electronic duo Manics – the duo will be joined by other acts Colyn, DJ Harvey, Maya Jane Coles, Stavroz, and Will Clarke.

Ahead of the debut edition of Brunch, Manics has shared exclusive insight with EARMILK five pro tips they have for preparing for a festival, ahead of their Brunch Electronik! performance in LA next month.

Know what you want to play – “Having organized crates, and knowing what’s in them, is crucial to being ready for a set. We usually have 4-8 crates based on genre / mood inside of one folder on our USB that we hand picked for that set. It makes it really easy to switch up or stay in a vibe depending on what we want to do."

Bounce a rough master of your WIPs – “Sitting on some tracks that aren’t fully finished? Get a rough master going and bounce them. You never know if the set is gonna call for it. Best to be prepared to play your new stuff if the vibe is right."

Exercise that day – “We always try to get an exercise In the day of any set. It’s the best way to get some natural energy and keep focus.”

Have a media plan – “Make sure you know how you’re going to capture the set. Whether that’s hiring photo/video, bringing your own cameras, or having your friend film with their phone. Most festivals have media, but that doesn’t guarantee you’re getting covered. We always bring 2 GoPros, a 360 cam and record our audio using the DJM app.”

Don’t forget the Bag – “You’re walking thru crowds of people holding drinks, sitting on dusty production cases backstage, hanging out in the sun and performing. You’re gonna at least get sweaty, if not dirty. A couple extra tees is always a good idea. One for after the set, and one back up. We usually keep these in a separate bag from our gear so they only get touched if needed.”

Manics is a Los Angeles-based electronic live act and DJ duo comprised of Jordan Deherrera and Chris Sanders. Pulling inspiration from new wave, dark disco, house, and modern indie dance, their expansive catalog has received support from the likes of Solomun, Bob Moses, Rex The Dog, Gorgon City, Duke Dumont, Hammer, Mau P, and Poolside to name a select few. Leading to performances at festivals like CRSSD, EDC LV, Proper NYE, Northern Nights, Noise Pop, and forthcoming at Brunch Electronik!

Established in 2013 as a Sunday weekly party in Barcelona, Brunch Electronik! has since expanded into a global-spanning music project, hosting events across the world in cities such as Madrid, Paris, Lisbon, Lima, and São Paulo, as well as launching their debut flagship festival in Barcelona last year. Known for its dynamic atmosphere and innovative programming, Brunch Electronik! skillfully fuses forward-thinking lineup curation and sustainability initiatives to foster inclusive and diverse communities on their dance floors.

Tickets are still available to see Manics at Brunch Electronik! on July 6th in Los Angeles.
