Psychedelic art-rock act Ghostkeeper share inviting single "Lipstick," weaving an otherworldly melody of sultry, layered beats and chirping tones to toe the line between the rhythms of trap and the futuristic feels of contemporary R&B. An anthem of reminiscence, the track is ethereal and soaring but grounded by pleasing vocals.
Opening with minimal synths and playful hi-hats, the track builds with low guitar twangs to craft a tight yet expansive sonic experience. Honing in a signature blend of high-energy instrumentals, tender and hypnotic vocals and vivid lyricism, their latest offering shines with the melodic complexity that each slice of their intricate music brims with.
Speaking to Earmilk, Ghostkeeper dives into the core feeling behind the track and who inspires them.
Our favorite part about writing this record was the unexpected drive of nostalgia. This force took us down a process of immediacy which called for stories that were rooted deeply into our bones… our romantic marrow.
