Remember Summer turn “Wrecking Ball” into a vintage summer tune

UK duo Remember Summer has just dropped their first single since their 2021 EP Dreamdiaries#2, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Easing us in, they serve up their own rendition of the 2013 chart-topping hit “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus. Remember Summer, which consists of Paddy Conn and Angelina Dove, captures the same emotion and heartfelt sincerity, putting a complete spin on the song, as they perform it through a hazy vintage filter.

Most people will be familiar with the original “Wrecking Ball,” where the power ballad tells the story of an explosive relationship, as Cyrus sings about heartbreak and self-destruction.

Dove explains her reasoning behind covering the track sharing, “Metaphorically spot on; I think I’m an ‘exploding doormat’ personality type. A really long fuse, but once it’s lit…Wrecking Ball resonated with me, I feel like I’ve been there. The explosions, the disappointment, indifference even.”

Through the use of folky melodies, layered synths and ethereal vocals that are reminiscent of Kate Bush, “Wrecking Ball” emits an 80’s vibe to it, resulting in a fresh and distinct cover that is totally addictive.
