Singer and lead guitarist Conor Carthy shared insights into the song's creation: "Rob [our bassist] recorded the initial idea at home. We all added our parts, turning it into a progressive track. The song's moody bassline builds as other elements come together, driven by the drum beat, reminiscent of Interpol's layered sound." Lyrically, the song is not about anyone specific. Carthy writes verses on his phone and assembles them around the music, inspired by themes in Alfred Hitchcock films where protagonists are falsely accused and pursued.
