Norwegian band fucales explore the world of raw, indie psychedelic on "it was decided"

Returning with their latest single, and drawing comparisons to some greats in the indie psych world – "It Was Decided," catapults fucales into a whirlwind of sonic experimentation and raw energy. From its frenetic introduction to the raw psychedelic flourishes in the chorus, the track is a testament to the band's unbridled creativity and philosophical depth.

Despite their youth, Fucales has already solidified their position as one of Norway's most dynamic live indie acts, garnering acclaim at festivals like Eggstock Festival and HÁTÍÐNI. With wild trumpets, psychedelic guitars, and an explosive rhythm section, their sound channels the dreamy aggression reminiscent of Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine while infusing elements of jazz and pop. The lyrics, inspired by a coffee cup inscription from singer Mari Singstad's grandparents' boat adventures, add a personal touch to the band's captivating narrative. "It Was Decided" is not just a song; it's a sonic journey that leaves listeners eagerly anticipating Fucales' next musical odyssey.

The band explain in more detail that "The song explores different themes of love and personal growth. I sometimes fear growing older, becoming and adult, and realizing that I never left behind all the stupid views and old habits that I’ve acquired over time. It’s also a testament to unconditional and eternal love – inspired by my grandparents who found each other in early age, and decided to stick together through thick and thin. I mull over the beauty and the tragedy that exists within that kind of love – from the perspective of me, a scared twenty year old." – fucales
