Entering adulthood isn’t always such an easy chapter, and Virginia-based artist Ryan Wright knows all too well. Opening up about her own journey, the singer, songwriter, and producer delivers a relatable anthem with “Quarter Life Crisis.” We all experience it at some point in our lives, yearning to stay youthful and live that carefree life, and Wright expresses these emotions perfectly in the new song.

Wright explains, "Quarter Life Crisis is the very essence of what it feels like to be in your early 20s to mid-thirties. Although the age gap is vast, the feelings are mutual because, in reality, it’s not easy to become an independent adult. The song nurtures the very real feelings of the fear of becoming an adult and falling further and further away from youth. The song has a bit of longing that still clings to the urge to act young and dumb like you did as a teenager, but you’re stuck in your twenties feeling like your life is maturing way faster than you are. Quarter Life Crisis is the anthem for the trials and tribulations of aging.”

Through gritty, distorted guitars and energetic, crashing percussion, Wright’s powerful and husky vocals chant, “I used to rage now I like peace and quiet, I must be having a quarter-life crisis.” The instrumentation is a nod to the grunge production of the 90s, while the infectious melody emits a bubblegum pop sound, delivering an unlikely yet enchanting combination.

“Quarter Life Crisis” is off of her upcoming EP due this summer, so keep your eyes peeled for more, as you won’t want to miss out.
