Izzy Pingrey unearths emotional depth in new single "roots"

In the beating heart of NYC's indie scene, 17 year old singer/songwriter Izzy Pingrey has carved out her own little space. Her new song "roots" shows a more grown up side of Izzy – it's a touching letter from her current self to her younger self filled with raw feelings and self-reflection.

Izzy blends indie rock and singer/songwriter styles with some 80's and 90s vibes into her very own brand of soulful tunes. Even though she's still a teenager, her lyrics and vocals make her seem wise beyond her years, while still speaking to universal teenage experiences and she wrote and produced "roots" together with her dad Arthur Pingrey. Their father-daughter combo perfectly balances Izzy's coming of age lyrics with rich melodies and textures. The song flows like a musical scrapbook of memories exploring the mixed emotions of growing up – clinging to childhood moments while also feeling pulled towards the future.

Anyone who remembers the turbulent transition from childhood into young adulthood will connect with Izzy's nostalgic yet hopeful song. It speaks to that unsteady balance we all find – one foot still firmly planted in innocence and carefree days gone by while the other steps forward into new maturity and self-discovery.
