Georgia bred and now Los Angeles based Houston in the Blind has just shared their latest single. Called "Drifting" the track is off of their upcoming album Hide the Glow due later this year.
With "Drifting", Houston in the Blind pens an autobiographical song all about the last decade of lead singer/songwriters Charlie Garrett's life. From chaotic events, ups and downs, struggles and accomplishments, the song acts as a reminder to take life as it comes and try to stay present. "Drifting" also includes the theme of glimmers of hope and happiness even in difficult times. Lyrics including "It ain’t easy, things always change," show the difficulties in dealing with constant change. Musically, "Drifting" envelops the listener with its thick and layered shoegaze drenched soundscapes. Reverb-heavy guitars and dreamy vocals add to the hazy and mystical musical masterpiece.
Houston in the Blind was formed in 2014. Led by Charlie Garrett, the group quickly made a name for themselves in Atlanta Georgia. Their upcoming album Hide the Glow is the first album since the band's debut Limbs in 2015. Charlie confides, “This album is the sobering moment of finally feeling awake and somewhat better. It’s a relief. It’s a bit of hope.” It’s what comes next."
