Singer-songwriter Will Knox's latest single "Growing Pains" is like peeking into his diary. Through raw vocals and gentle guitar, he shreds his soul searching about becoming an adult and a new dad.
The first words – I don't want to let you down – came during inner child therapy and reduced him to tears and this lyric anchors a stripped-back acoustic track where Knox talks to his childhood self about the baggage we all carry into adulthood and parenthood.
He wrote "Growing Pains" wanting to break that cycle for his newborn son's sake. The process clearly resonated, with former college bud Jesse Ruben collaborating and veteran producer Ian Grimble working the boards.
Its a catchy, heart-on-sleeve preview of Knox's early 2024 debut LP. If this is any indication we're in for more tear-jerking, relatable anthems about resilience and growth when that album drops. For now, cue up "Growing Pains" and have some tissues handy.
