Platinum R&B star Marmar Oso and emerging talent Annie Malee team up on retro number “Searching for You,” drawing inspiration from the upcoming motion picture Abandonment.
With a simple soundscape of piano riffs, strings and gentle percussion alongside emotional vocals from Oso and Malee, the track brims with nostalgia as it feels like a sonic throwback. With Oso’s deeply raw performance style meeting Malee’s expansive and warm delivery, the track captures the soulfulness and sorrow of grieving a lost love while also holding on touches of power.
Led by an 80s-esque drum vibe paired with body percussion by Appalachian folk artist Steven Sandifer, in a nod to the movie’s Appalachian setting, the track serves to underscore the painful tapestry of a broken love that Malee and Oso so expertly paint with their voices.
