Brighton-based genre-bending band Skeewiff has been working the live music circuit since the early 2000s although officially they came together in the mid-90s under their previous moniker Shaft. With decades of music, singles, and live performances behind them, the group has now formed Jalapeno Records where they can release music without external influence or label politics. Their latest release is a groovy lounge version of the song "Sway" which brings together smooth percussions, and soulful horns underpinned by rich vocal runs that rise to a plateau on the hook section. This modern rendition sure captures the exotic and authentic feel of the original with a slightly upgraded feature.
"Sway" is the final single taken from Skweewiff's forthcoming album, Something Like That? which is made up of updated cover versions of some of their very favourite tunes. The album drops in March 2024 on limited edition vinyl.
