Katy Pinke teases new album with new visual for folk-leaning "Tomato"

U.S Songwriter and varied folk artist katy Pinke returns with her first single of the year, with a sonically unique, almost anti-folk inspired new single “Tomato”. Built from a softly composed piece of piano, it’s a track that evokes emotion while keeping a simplicity throughout. There’s a joyfulness contrasted with a sadness in the production, the track has a notable lack of production, without backing vocals – making the track almost sound as a lullaby. As Katy describes the track,

“This is a song, I think, about the struggle for humans to co-exist or see each other’s pain and the inner delusions that get in the way.”

Tomato serves a preview of her much-anticipated debut album, which was recorded in a single day in Brooklyn under the expert guidance of engineer/producer Phil Weinrobe (known for his work with Big Thief, Cass McCombs, Hand Habits).

The album serves as a captivating snapshot of a specific moment in Pinke's artistic journey. Fresh off her inaugural solo tour, she returned and promptly gathered a close-knit circle of friends in the Brooklyn studio. This intimate group not only lent their voices in the background on one track but also contributed by playing the piano on another.
