Star2 is an Asian-American pop meets hip-hop musician based in San Diego. He was born in a Thai refugee camp and uses his backstory to inspire other Asian-American artists to come forward and express themselves. Star2 is currently in Thailand on a trip to the Mae La refugee camp where he was born in hopes of inspiring the next generation of Asian musicians. His new single "Lies" is an acoustic reverie that replays a relationship as it falls through the cracks.
"Lies" will leave you choked up with saccharine strings, heartbreaking harmonies that echo in the wind, and a gingerly withdrawn vocal from Star2. Still in disbelief that his love slipped through his fingers, Star2 sings, "Lie to you / That's something I can't never do, never do / Lie to me / That's what you do to me, do to me." Paired with a music video that contrasts tender memories from the start of their relationship with a bitter, backstabbing end as Star2's former flame throws their picture into a fire, the visuals for "Lies" mirror the painstaking effects of dishonesty. "Lies" captures the feeling of your heart sinking in your chest over visceral riffs and a soul-bearing vocal.
Star2 has worked with a vast array of artists including Soulja Boy, $tupid Young, Mozzy, MBNel, Luh Kel, Lil Poppa, HoodTrophy Bino, YSN Flow, and MarMar Oso. He has collaborated with fellow Thai refugee Chinatown Runner. Currently traveling through Thailand and his birthplace at the Mae La refugee camp, Star2 hopes to draw inspiration from his roots.
