'I Don't Remember' by French indie outfit, Astral Bakers serves as their compelling calling card, intertwining dirty shimmering tones with poignant lyrics that spill forth reluctantly. Channelling influences from Beach Boys-era rock 'n' roll, grunge and indie songwriting, the track unveils a tapestry of heartfelt yearning and Nico Lockhart's piercing lead guitar lines.

Theodora's commanding bassline and Zoé Hochberg's double kick on drums create a rhythmic backbone, almost conjuring the subtle presence of hand-claps in the background. Amidst it all, Sage leans into the microphone, delivering vocals with a sigh, haunted by the central loss that lingers in the song's core. The refrain beckons with a sing-along quality, drawing listeners into the echoing sentiment of "I still see you every time". Yet, beneath the catchy exterior lies a profound and devastating reality, adding depth to the track's emotional landscape.

As Astral Bakers prepare to hit the road, culminating in a headline show at La Maroquinerie in Paris and the promise of an upcoming debut album in early 2024, 'I Don't Remember' positions itself as a mesmerising preview of the band's evolving sonic prowess.

Speaking of the track, the band said, “I Don't Remember is a song that Ambroise (Sage) started writing many years ago. It resurfaced when we started writing new material. Suddenly, it all came very naturally, as if the song had been waiting for us to finish it. It was one of the first songs we ever recorded, and we’ve always kept it as a reference point for what our sound should be.”
