London-based Bristol-born singer, Charlotte Lansman's latest release "So Long" is a brilliant folk-pop-country-infused piece that centers on the catalyst of the demise of a relationship. The soundscape is deeply layered, and dynamic and builds up to a plateau as the song progresses. Charlotte's lilting vocal runs are prominent and the manner by which she controls her vocal range is breathtaking. With that being said, the songwriting is also worth noting as her unapologetic and candid demeanour shines through with lines like “My soul has fallen to the floor but I'm still here/And I see that we've been strangers for so many years/ Your face crumbles with grief/And I, I feel something like relief/And I can taste the tears upon my lips but I can't hear the noise my body starts to make/The emptiness that's plagued us for so long/ is ruptured when my heart begins to break”. I must add, the emotions here are quite a lot to unpack and listeners with similar experiences will definitely relate to it.
