Nairobi, Kenya based genre-defying band Lone Tree have just unveiled their latest single. Called "Holding On", the song is the first of the year from the musical collective who began releasing music in 2021.
With "Holding On", Lone Tree concots a song all about trying to repair a broken relationship. Love is difficult and oftentimes damage happens in a romantic connection and with their new single Lone Tree tells the story of two lovers holding on to that eternal flame despite the hardships. Lyrics including "I keep holding on / I left you out in the rain / Feeling guilty can't you see / I know this won't be the same / We're still holding on," show that one is aware she hurt the other but doesn't want to give up on the relationship. Musically, "Holding On" enthralls with swirling soundscapes filled with psychedelic guitar solos, reggae infused rhythm guitars and driving basslines. Lead singer Teresa Sanders' vocals are enveloping and warm, drawing much deserved attention. "Holding On" was co-produced with Devon Allman and George Murphy.
Lone Tree is four expats and musicians who formed together to create an expansive musical oasis. Composed of Patrick Sanders (lead guitar, vocals), Teresa Sanders (lead singer), Gabe Gebremedhin (drums, vocals) and Ben Matsaert (bass, keys), the worldly group has roots throughout the globe including U.S., Bolivia, Eritrea, Kenya, Ethiopia, U.K. and Belgium.
