Amsterdam artist Elif Dame welcomes listeners into her very honest and intimate world, taking them along on her journey with mental health. Sharing her personal experiences, challenges, and myriad of emotions she faced over the last few years, her new EP, Securely Detached, is raw and very real.

Each of the eleven tracks off of the EP touch on a different part of her journey. The songwriter shares, “It’s about reframing my co-dependent relationships and about my time on the waitlist to get mental health care. It’s about the important process of learning what it means to put yourself first.”

“Celexa (Buy Me Time),” and “Killing It,” both touch on the prospect of going on medication and adjusting to it, whereas “Grandmothers Fault,” and “Good Friend” speak about the unhealthy relationships in her life. Throughout each song, Dame’s vulnerable lyrics are told through deep, soulful vocals, accompanied by mesmerizing R&B beats and celestial melodies that suck you further into her world.

,Not only is Securely Detached a fantastic listening experience and something that you’ll want to keep on repeat all day long, but it also has a more significant impact, simultaneously raising awareness and reducing stigma when it comes to mental health.
