Essex singer-songwriter IMONI caught our eyes and ears in her latest single titled "Placebo" which serves as one of the handful of songs she has officially released since she started her musical career. As an uprising act, she is definitely one to watch as her distinct melodic runs, emotive songwriting and propensity for dark R&B backdrops will make her stand out from the pack. The Sonny 808 produced track is ripe with eerie textures, subtle moody pads and thumping drum grooves which IMONI peppers with her sublime vocals and eargasmic melodies. Here, she reflects on a past relationship she was in with a toxic ex and the ups and downs that came with it. From the emotional trauma, and delusion to finally finding her true self and strength to cut loose, IMONI gives listeners a vivid glimpse into her experiences with lines like "Imma live out your dreams now/You're wishing it was you and me now/Missing me through your screen now"
The song also comes with a brilliant visual shot by The Blackworks who use performance shots with dark and cinematic aesthetics to match the emotional theme. The color coordination and lighting is quite engaging as well and the overall feel of the clip adds life to the song.
"Placebo" is a precursor release to IMONI's forthcoming EP.
