American DJ/producer Deep West teams up with legendary British duo Moloko on “On My Mind,” refreshing reinterpretation of Moloko's evergreen hit "The Time is Now.”
Inspired by an accidental vinyl glitch that transformed the timeless production, Deep West breathes new life into the classic. And Moloko’s contribution of their original vocals for the first time brings up a seamless blend of old and new sonic styles.
Speaking of the serendipitous story behind the creation of the track, Deep West says “At the house of a friend, an avid vinyl collector, I stumbled upon Moloko's classic hit – 'The Time is Now.' I started playing the track from the original vinyl, but the needle glitched right at the end of the line, 'You're the first thing and the last thingon my mind.’ Fuelled by this unexpected glitch, I translated the moment into a creative revelation. Back in the studio, I produced 'On My Mind,' sampling this timeless club classic from Moloko."
After years of producing and ghost-producing hits for others, this captivating tech-house anthem is Deep West’s second release under a new moniker, as he continues his journey into a new musical era with renewed passion and vigour.
