Two-time Hawaiian Grammy (Nā Hōkū Hanohano) award-winning rapper Thomas Iannucci returns with his new single "Where I'm From" which sees him teaming up with Shady Records artist GRIP. The track is an auto-biographical jam that takes listeners into Thomas' stomping grounds where any wrong move can turn fatalistic. The moody track produced by Enzo Gran has a solemn and ominous texture and starts off with GRIP's off-kilter melodic vocals leading to Thomas' scathing look at his environment. Lines like "Wrong place in a pair of decent shoes would land you on the evening news that would leave a bruise on your mama heart/ We done bruise for your counterparts/pour a drink out the 40 ounce, stuck inside the hood like a motor mouse" brutally describe the dark side of his city and the intersectionality between societal and personal struggles.
