New York based rock trio The Dionysus Effect return with the perfect single for this spooky season. Entitled "Everything the Darkness Eats", the song follows their debut self-titled album shared earlier this year.
With "Everything the Darkness Eats", The Dionysus Effect gives a dedication to one of their friends and muses horror author Eric LaRocca and his latest novel of the same name. The song details relatable fears mentioned in that book as well as Christoph of the band's own struggle with traumatic battles of depression and dark times. Lyrics including, "Nothing is left for me / The angels sing / My destiny / Darkness takes me / I keep breaking," show the helplessness many of us have dealing with our own fears. Musically, "Everything the Darkness Eats" is a seductive and haunting musical daydream with clashing drums, pitch black ferocious vocals and unique Spanish style acoustic guitars. Heavy rock, post punk and darkwave musical genres are all intertwined for a fascinating listen.
The Dionysus Effect was formed in a dark basement in New York by Christoph Paul (lead vocals/ bass), Sean Quinn Hanley (guitar/backup vocals), and Brett Petersen (drums). Named after the Greek God, whose tale was to bring about ecstasy, insanity and ritual madness, the band aims to bring the same emotions to their dynamic live performances. Take a listen to the new single now and get excited for the spookiness of the season!
