Enigmatic musical collective The Number Red have shared their debut nine track album The Purple Light. One of the musical highlights from the full length is the unique and mysterious track "The Sixteenth Day".
With "The Sixteenth Day", The Number Red writes a song giving homage to numerology and spiritual metaphors. Influenced by the true story of a friend Mary who found freedom and solace after leaving a destructive situation, the track is a hopeful and joyous story of triumph. Lyrics including, " It was the sixteenth day / ready to repay / your perfection / the hyenas are gone," show that his friend Mary is in a better place and he is ready to connect with her once again. "The Sixteenth Day" features a unique fusion of 60's influenced psychedelic rock, synth pop, indie rock and punk. Two different bass guitars add a soulful and distinctive quality to the song which also features a fiery saxophone solo and expressive baritone vocals for an intoxicating listen.
The Number Red is a new band with changing and rotating members. Their debut album The Purple Light was written when members were living in various countries in Europe, taking influence from their cross country travel journeys and underground studio location in Berlin. Their sound is heavily influenced by David Bowie's record Low and listeners can hear that same creativity with their new release "The Sixteenth Day".
