Earlier this year, Australian indie clash rock band Sticky Fingers unveiled their deluxe album, Lekkerboy. The 19-track release was something that fans had patiently been waiting for, with their previous album having been released way back in 2019. Since then, the five-piece band had been on a hiatus and audiences around the world were desperate to hear new music from them. Little did they know, not only were they working on their 5th studio album, but their close friend Nelson Groom was also writing a book. Friends with the band from their very first days rehearsing in drummer Beaker's garage, Groom was the only person who truly knew the ins and outs of this wildly chaotic band.
Belly of the Beast: On the Road with Sticky Fingers, covers the full history of the band and all the nitty gritty details. Beginning with their early days, right up to their arena tour and everything in between. Author Nelson Groom shares, “I’ve seen this band grow from Newtown bogans to international bogans. The idea was to show their go on the road and off, so I jumped through the jaws and sliced open a window. What I found in there was pretty fucked up. As if you don’t want to see it?”
Their album Lekkerboy was the perfect reflection of the journey Sticky Fingers have been on thus far and the new book delves even deeper. Readers will get to witness their rollercoaster ride, taking an intimate look into their lives and better understanding the five huge characters that make up Sticky Fingers. Belly of the Beast: On the Road with Sticky Fingers is available to purchase globally on October 10th via their website.
