RyanNicole has dropped off a new offering called "Small But Mighty", released in collaboration with Bay Area nonprofits Baykeeper and HH4C. RyanNicole's "Small But Mighty" is a powerful anthem championing the protection of Bay Area waterways from corporate pollution. The track makes for a poignant listen, paired with engaging new visuals directed by Marc Stretch, with captivating cinematography by 707 Supply and editing by Marc Stretch and Alex Bello. With fast-paced, enticing shots that put the song's urgent environmental message on front stage, "Small But Mighty" is a thought-provoking, important release from RyanNicole, Baykeeper, and HH4C.
With colorful flutes and a catchy, lively rhythm section, "Small But Mighty" blends its poignant political message with an infectious soundscape, as RyanNicole laces the track with sharply-crafted, cutting lines. The track, produced by Bay Area-based rapper, producer and HH4C education director UnLearn The World, borrows from a wide range of influences- from dance, hyphy, and more. The versatile, energizing "Small But Mighty" could just as easily be played at a protest rally as it could at a house party, with its hypnotic bounce and vibrant sound.
Regarding the release, RyanNicole says, “"Small But Mighty" is to me a reminder to the people of their power. We are privileged to live in a purportedly democratic nation. I still believe the greatest weapon against injustice is the collective will & action of the people.”
The music video release of "Small But Mighty” is the result of an innovative collaboration between two Bay Area nonprofits. SF Baykeeper, the Oakland based non-profit legal watchdog organization that confronts corporate polluters and the Oakland based, social justice-infused arts education org Hip Hop For Change, Inc (HH4C). The two orgs have successfully blended their seemingly different missions to produce a memorable, engaging musical anthem. In the wake of polluting events like the recent fire at the Schnitzer Steel plant in West Oakland, "Small But Mighty" provides a powerful call to action to Bay Area communities young and old. It serves as a testament to our collective power while encouraging and empowering us to protect our local waters from the pollution caused by corporations.
