Emerging Afro Soul British Nigerian singer and songwriter Dara Blaxx first appeared in 2021 with her debut EP Arrhythmia and has been on a trajectory ever since. Influenced by greats like Sade, Lauryn Hill, Asa and others, Dara is bringing a fresh take on Soul/R&B with a rich Afro-fusion aesthetic.
Her latest record “In My Cup" is a sultry, mid-tempo afro-soul jam that soothes the spirit and gets listeners in the mood for a good time. Over the sublime and warm backdrop made up of layered pads, lush lead synths and a head-nodding drum groove, Dara talks about drowning herself in music on a night out and savouring each moment as it comes and the notion is fully asserted on the chorus as she calmly sings "2 more shots and I'm gone/ Gonna have a good time/drippy juice in my cup, I'm in it for a long ride".
