Eclectic singer-songwriter Kohla is charting her own path with her brand of retro-tinged futuristic soul stylings. Her latest release "Golden" is a soul-gripping piece that talks about love and having high standards that in turn help bring out the best between two lovers. Bolstered by the downtempo grooves, ethereal and dreamy textures and soft percussions, Kohla takes us deep into the emotions that come out of being loved the right way. Armed with her sultry melodic runs and layered harmonies, Kohla expresses her feelings with lines like "Tasting me in my soul/ Don't you know I'm yours/ Boy, don't you know I'm yours" and asserts herself on the chorus with an eargasmic melodic explosion.
Overall, "Golden" is as unapologetic as it gets and it's an unedited display of what a woman truly wants.
Kohla is a fine art graduate of The Edinburgh College of Art and her current interdisciplinary project is supported by Creative Scotland and Help Musicians.
