R&B tastemaker IX Wulf shares his innermost thoughts on a reflective new single, “act v: sage.” The accompanying visual depicts a love affair quickly unraveling. The artist reflects on his actions through delicate harmonies and passionate lyricism. Following the release of his debut visual EP, heal yourself first, the focus track is one part of his eight-track narrative.

“Act v: sage” has an elegant R&B melody. The subtle bass holds the beat’s structure as the instrumental follows behind the singer’s powerful vocals. The single begins with a question, “Am I a bad person?” Each verse builds into the next becoming louder and more impactful. They evolve from contemplative insecurity to self-soothing confidence. The artist describes the track, “I’m an overthinker. With things that I’ve gone through in life, I always tend to reflect on what one, or if a combination of, my actions lead me to that place.”

The music video depicts an argument between the singer and his love interest, resulting in the woman packing her bags and leaving the residence. He performs the song in the living room reflecting on the ill-fated relationship. “It’s in the moment after, a moment of reflection, I’m questioning my actions, almost in disgust of myself,” he shares.

Through lyrical storytelling and stunning visuals, the singer creates a safe space for his emotions. heal yourself first takes a deep dive into his psyche, processing relatable human experiences. He states, “Music is therapeutic for me on a few levels. It allows me to talk about things, or express emotion that in conversation, I probably wouldn’t.” Combining his expansive vocal range with quality production, IX Wulf is a comforting embrace for the R&B lover’s soul.

I am a digital marketer and publicist with a passion for A&R and music management. Originally from Southern California, I spent many years as a transplant in the Midwest in the St. Louis and Chicago areas. Now I am back in sunny Los Angeles. Besides my professional life, I enjoy music of all genres with a sweet spot for hip-hop/rap. I love my west coast rap and all things Tupac, Kendrick, Nipsey, etc. I am always down to go to a show, whether the venue be the smallest hole in the wall or the largest arena.
