Nashville based rising country singer-songwriter Cody Belew returns with an important and infectious new single. Called “I Did It for Love”, the track follows the acclaimed song "Charlene" in which he writes a narrative all about defying religious intolerance and hate.
With “I Did It for Love", Cody Belew visits an autobiographical episode in his life where someone was rude to him based on their own jealousy and insecurity. Knowing that Cody is being true to himself and coming from a place of love with these decisions, the songwriter won't change who he is and will continue to embrace the successes he has had. Lyrics including, "Call me cruel / Call me lonely / If you got too little / If I took too much / I did it for love," show this important theme of ignoring the naysayers. Sonically, “I Did It for Love" intrigued with thumping basslines, rowdy country pop melodies and grit laced guitar riffs. Cody Belew effortlessly blends rock, blues, Americana, country and pop for an exciting listening experience.
Cody Belew is set to release his debut album, also titled I Did It for Love, out early next year. The singer/songwriter has received praise from CMT who included him as a member of their coveted “Listen Up” program (alums include Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Thomas Rhett, and Maren Morris) as well as NBC, Extra!, and WWD etc. With influences ranging from Freddie Mercury to the Judds, Cody Belew creates his own unique musical intoxication. Take a listen to "I Did it for Love" now.
