Darius Martin is a Los Angeles based artist who fuses elements of pop and R&B into his sonics while crafting powerful narratives that resonate with day-to-day life. His newly released single, "Sparks Don't Fly" featuring Shantal Vella, is written about domestic violence in hopes of showing listeners that they are never alone. Martin is partnering with Doorways, an organization based in Arlington, Virginia that provides resources and support for survivors.

"Sparks Don't Fly" is layered with ambient percussion, subtle beats that linger in the ether, and earth-shaking harmonies from Martin and Vella. Shantal Vella is a Latin musician who ignites the track with a powerful female perspective adding to the dialogue surrounding domestic violence. Martin sings, "I don't want to keep on burning in this wildfire / I thought I showed you that you were my one desire." Martin and Vella fearlessly explore the depths of a toxic relationship with poignant lyrics and raw emotions.

Darius Martin grew up in the American Southwest before moving to Los Angeles to develop his creativity. He got his degree from the acclaimed Los Angeles Film Institute in 2020. Check out Darius Martin's new single "Sparks Don't Fly" and visit Doorways at www.doorwaysva.org for more information and resources on domestic violence.
