LA indie dance psych/dream pop quartet SWIMM delivers the final glimpse of their upcoming sophomore album Best Comedown Ever with bouncy anthem “Last Life,” which balances an introspective message with a danceable beat.
Drawn from a conversation about reincarnation, the poignant production revolves around the idea that when people are thought of as old souls it is because they’ve lived many lives. And it’s possible that they are close to their last.
Rooted in melancholic lyrics that explore the bittersweets of finding your soulmate but facing the next iteration of your life without them, the track is given an intimate approach on the stripped-down solo version from frontman Chris Hessthat taps into the reflective mood of the track a bit more.
